If Fat Loss Is Your Goal Stop Thinking Cardio & Think Strength Cardio
Most women are told that if they want to lose fat, they need to do more cardio.
Walk more. Run more. Spend more time on the treadmill.
I see it differently.
If your goal is fat loss, stop thinking about doing more cardio and start thinking about Strength Cardio.
What does that mean? It means designing your workouts so your body is constantly working instead of constantly waiting.
Instead of finishing a hard set and sitting on your phone for three minutes, this is what changes:
- Alternate upper and lower body exercises
- Pair movements together
- Keep your heart rate elevated
- Increase your training density
- Complete more quality work in the same amount of time
That doesn’t mean rushing your workouts or lifting light weights. It means being intentional with your exercise selection and the way you structure your training.
For example β instead of performing a set of goblet squats and then standing around waiting, you move into an upper-body exercise. Then back to a lower-body movement. Then back to an upper-body movement. Your workout keeps flowing.
You get more quality work done. And you can build strength, preserve muscle, and burn more calories β all in the same session.
This is exactly how I’ve coached women for years. It’s one of the biggest differences between simply lifting weights and following a workout that’s actually designed for fat loss.
What Is Strength Cardio?
It’s simpler than it sounds β you’re not adding a new type of exercise, you’re changing how you structure the exercises you’re already doing.
Strength Cardio = Lifting challenging weights while keeping your body moving.
That’s it. Same dumbbells, same effort in the gym β just organized so you’re never standing around waiting for your next set. The result is a workout that trains strength and conditioning at the same time, instead of treating them as two separate things you have to schedule separately.
Here’s what changes when you train this way:
- Less standing around
- More total work
- More calories burned
- Still building muscle
Increase Your Training Density
Complete more quality work in the same amount of time.
- More quality work done in less time.
- Higher heart rate. More calories burned.
- Maintain strength. Build lean muscle.
- Improve work capacity. Get stronger, fitter, and more resilient.
Train Smarter, Not Longer
Strength Cardio is about lifting challenging weights and training with purpose.
